Frito Pie is a quick and comforting one-pan meal made with a hearty beef chili base, melted cheese, and crunchy corn chips, all baked together in a single skillet. Ready in about 30 minutes, it’s a casual, crowd-pleasing dish that combines the bold flavors of seasoned ground beef and beans with the satisfying texture of gooey cheese and crisp Fritos for a fun twist on classic chili.

Ingredients

  • (1 pound) Grass-fed Ground Beef
  • (1) Small yellow onion, diced
  • (2 tablespoons) Taco seasoning
  • (2 teaspoons) Chili powder
  • (1 teaspoon) Garlic powder
  • (To taste) Salt & pepper
  • (2 (15 oz) cans) Chili beans
  • (1 (8 oz) can) Tomato sauce
  • (2 cups) Shredded cheese
  • (2 cups) Fritos corn chips
  • (2 teaspoons) Hot sauce (optional)
  • (For topping) Sour cream
  • (For topping) Diced red onions
  • (For topping) Guacamole
  • (For topping) Lettuce
  • (For topping) Diced tomatoes
  • (For topping) Olives

Directions

  1. Heat a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced onion, ground beef, taco seasoning, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  3. Cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking up the beef as it browns, until no longer pink. Drain excess grease if needed, then return the meat to the pan.
  4. Stir in the beans and tomato sauce, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. While it simmers, preheat the oven broiler to high.
  6. Layer half of the cheese over the chili, followed by the corn chips, then top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot with your choice of toppings.
