Marinated Beef Kabob
Ingredients
For Kabob:
-
750g or 1.5 lb beef tri-tip or sirloin steak tips
-
3 bell peppers (red, yellow, and green)
-
1 large red onion
-
16 small mushrooms, cut 1.3 inch wide
For Marinade:
-
1 tsp garlic, minced
-
1 tsp onion powder (or sub with garlic powder)
-
2 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
-
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
-
1 tbsp vegetable oil (or other neutral flavoured oil)
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
For Cooking:
-
16 flat metal skewers, 10-12 inches long
-
Olive oil, for drizzling and cooking
-
Finely chopped parsley, for garnish
Recipe Steps
-
Cut beef into roughly 1.3 inch cubes.
-
Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl, add the beef, and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to 24 hours.
-
Slice bell peppers and onions into similar 1.3 inch pieces.
-
Thread the beef, vegetables, and mushrooms onto skewers, alternating so that each piece of beef is separated by two pieces of vegetables. Leave a little space between ingredients to ensure even cooking.
-
Lightly brush the skewers with the reserved marinade, including the vegetables, and drizzle with olive oil.
-
Preheat a barbecue grill or large skillet over high heat. Add a tablespoon of oil, and when it’s hot and smoking, cook the kebabs in batches for about 2 minutes per side (around 8 minutes total), brushing with marinade as they cook until slightly charred.
-
Transfer cooked skewers to a plate, cover loosely with foil, and let them rest for 3 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.
